Exhibition Statement:

XoXo Gallery is excited to announce Systems, a two person exhibition of paintings by Roberta Tucci and Eric Niebuhr.
 

Through observation, analysis, and construction, Eric Niebuhr and Roberta Tucci’s work foster an exploration of the micro, macro and inner worlds. The careful re-interpretations in Tucci and Niebuhr’s paintings have both a familiar and abstract quality, simultaneously. Tucci’s vibrant color schemes and line work can lead us down a microscope or into a prism. Keenly observed flowers, maps and constellations are starting points in her work.

Similarly, Niebuhr’s use of materiality takes time to unravel and discover the images on the canvas. His investigations of window lit spaces, closed-eye hallucinations and staring into the dark invite the viewer into a moment of meditation.The culminating images created illuminate and underscore a sense of a fleeting emotion, all the while capturing it on canvas and board.
